Congratulations to Geary Construction and Smith Orchards!
Through the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA) State Clean Diesel Grant, the Utah Clean Diesel Program will provide funding to cover 75% of the cost to repower a 1991 diesel engine on a box truck with a remanufactured 2004 certified engine for Smith Orchards.
The grant will also be used to fund approximately 25% of the cost to replace a 1980 genset, a 1984 grader, and a 1995 dozer with newer, cleaner equipment for Geary Construction.
Program funds from USEPA total $282,458 with a $692,000 match from the participants, providing a completed project cost of $974,458.
The vehicles described in this project have been calculated to reduce PM
levels by 2.23 tons, NOx by 16.04 tons, HC by 1.36 tons, and CO by 10.61 tons over the life of the fleet.
